Famously a haven for snorkelers and divers with its crystalline waters filled with curiosities and life, Sumbawa is a lesser known – but no less touted – hotspot for surfers. Those who can tear their attention from the spectacular sea are rewarded with dramatic vistas inland, dominated primarily by still-active volcano Mount Tambora. Terraced rice fields, secluded bays and very little modern-day traffic create a nature-driven atmosphere that will dazzle visitors.
