7 Seas Luxury Cruises Acapulco Acapulco stands like a regal queen on the edge of Mexico's glorious Pacific coast, boasting one of the world's most beautiful bays. The surrounding Sierra Madre mountain range, covered with lush tropical greenery, appears to tumble right into the sea, creating a magnificent natural setting.

Bordered by warm, clear waters, Acapulco delights sun lovers, shoppers, sports buffs and those who want to rest and relax. Everything is easy to find, either on or off the long, sweeping seaside highway known as The Costera.

In colonial times, Acapulco was the terminal for the Manila convoy. Battles for Mexican independence were fought at Fuerte de San Diego, Acapulco's main defense that looms above the port. The fort was also used to protect the port from the attack of pirates such as Drake. This centrally located, star-shaped fort houses a museum that brings Acapulco's colorful history of Indians, pirates and Spanish Viceroys into focus, and traces the city's important role in Mexico's early trade with the Orient.

Acapulco has always been a front-runner. It was the first resort to attract international visitors to Mexico in a big way. There is more authentic Mexican flavor here than elsewhere because of the large year-round population. It is packed with the best that Mexico has to offer glorious beaches, abundant shopping, incredible dining, a contagious spontaneity and an unmistakable aura of rest and relaxation.

Please Note: Guests on Silversea's Pre- or Post-Cruise program may check with the Silversea Hospitality Desk at the hotel for sightseeing possibilities, dining and shopping information during their stay in Acapulco.

Caution: When going ashore in Acapulco don't wear expensive jewelry and keep an eye out for pickpockets.
