7 Seas Luxury Cruises Sorrento  Sorrento is a town of extraordinary beauty that has endured as a favored resort for centuries. In addition to its own attractions, Sorrento is also the gateway to the spectacular Amalfi Drive. The scenic, twisting road hugs jagged mountainsides. In between lie tiny fishing villages and famous resorts.
The seaside resort of Amalfi sits at the mouth of a deep gorge at the Gulf of Salerno, its weathered houses scrambling up the steep cliffs. En route to Amalfi lies another gem, Positano. The steep, narrow passageways leading down to the beach are lined with small boutiques and cozy restaurants.
Nearby, too, is the ruined city of Pompeii, destroyed in 79 A.D. by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Excavations afford a vivid impression of life in an ancient and very wealthy city of 20,000 people.
The popular Isle of Capri is just a short distance by jetfoil. Its attractions are lavish villas, elegant hotels, chic boutiques, and quaint restaurants.

Pier Information. The ship is scheduled to anchor off Marina Piccola. Guests will be taken ashore via the ship's tenders. The Left of Sorrento is a 15-minute walk uphill. Taxis are generally available in the pier area. Municipal minibuses are an alternative for the trip uptown.

Shopping. Look for linens and crocheted lace, which can be found on Corso Italia, Sorrento’s main street, and Via Francesco. Other great finds include a wide variety of wood-inlaid objects, a famous Sorrento craft, cameos and coral jewelry.

Cuisine. The region of Campania specializes in spaghetti, often served with shellfish, and excellent pizza. Dine in a waterfront café or an elegant hotel.
